My sensei

This is a commission I am working on. I will be adding colour this weekend but as far as a pen and ink drawing is concerned, it is finished.

The fairy in the picture is, in fact, my bellydance instructor.

Her name is Nayna and she is my sensei!

She has shown amazing patience with me as well as a wonderful talent for getting through to me on my level. In fact, when I have private lessons with her outside of class, she lets me bring in rap and heavy metal to practice to. I can only imagine how it would look to someone to walk into the studio and see two chicks bellydancing to DMX and Marilyn Manson.

At any rate, Nayna's specialty is fire dancing and she does it a lot at Renfaire so when I asked her what sort of elements to include in the commission, she mentioned fire. She is as obsessed with faeries as I am and she has them all over her house.
